Our team
Our technology is built and maintained by a multi-discipline engineering team of around 800 people. This collaborative environment includes server-side, client-side, and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters, and designers.
We utilize tools such as Slack, Notion, Google Docs and Asana for communication, work specification and management. Our development pipeline emphasizes continuous delivery and immutable infrastructure, leveraging Github, CircleCI, and Terraform Enterprise. To ensure performance and stability in production, we use Loggly, Sentry, and DataDog for monitoring and measurement.

Our technology
What you'll do...
This is a unique chance for software engineers to shape the technical direction of a critical new product group within Kraken. You'll be at the forefront of applying modern technologies to a historically underserved sector, directly contributing to a more sustainable energy future while working on challenging and impactful projects from the ground up.
Responsible for:
1. Defining and driving the technical direction for new software capabilities on the Kraken platform to support distribution network needs.
2. Designing and developing scalable and resilient software solutions that integrate with and extend the core Kraken platform.
3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including global product teams, to align development efforts and support changes to the underlying product.
4. Contributing to domain understanding and technical problem-solving specific to the energy distribution sector within the Kraken ecosystem.
5. Writing and maintaining robust Python and Django code, including asynchronous processing, ensuring compatibility and leveraging the Kraken platform.
6. Working on integrations with relevant energy systems, ensuring seamless data flow within the Kraken architecture.

What you'll bring
7. A proven track record of successfully working across diverse technology stacks and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new languages and frameworks.
8. Experience working within complex and/or regulated industries, understanding the unique challenges and considerations involved.
9. Solid experience with server-side development and a passion for writing clean, well-tested code.
10. Familiarity with modern web frameworks and API design principles (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
11. Experience with asynchronous processing and task queues.
12. Proficiency in working with PostgreSQL
13. Experience with cloud platforms (like AWS), infrastructure-as-code tools, and front-end technologies (like React/Redux).
Bonus points for:
14. Familiarity with the energy industry, including an understanding of AEMO/MSATS, and B2B & B2M processes (this is a significant bonus).
15. Contributions to open-source projects.
