* $176,910 pa. Package includes salary from $149,739 to $156,088, plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading.

About the Role
We have an opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator to be part of our Database Support team within the Technology and Communication Services Command. The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for planning, designing, supporting and maintaining the organisation's ICT database systems to ensure secure access and availability in accordance with the needs of the business.
In this role, you will provide 24x7 support for NSWPF's mission‐critical database systems across multiple database technologies, ensuring the performance, availability, and security of database platforms.
We are seeking candidates with experience in both Informix and Oracle database technologies. While your depth of experience and expertise may vary between the two, you must be able to support and work across both database platforms. If you have strong experience in one of these databases, along with the proven ability and commitment to effectively support the other, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform day‐to‐day support and administration of Informix and Oracle database systems, ensuring stability and reliability.
* Participate in on‐call roster to provide 24 hours/7 days per week support for database systems to maintain high availability and system resilience.
* Plan, schedule, and apply database patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities.
* Diagnose and resolve complex database issues promptly; escalated unresolved problems to vendors to minimize downtime.
* Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize system efficiency.
* Provide technical support for incident resolution and problem management.
* Support and participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
* Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
* Maintain system documentation, standards, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
* Extensive experience in day‐to‐day management and administration of Informix and Oracle database systems.
* Experience in planning, implementing, and managing Informix RSS and/or Oracle RAC/GRID/ASM high‐availability technologies and also managing high‐availability and disaster‐recovery solutions.
* Demonstrated experience in supporting mission‐critical, high‐availability systems in large, complex environments, including participation in a 24/7 on‐call support roster to ensure continuous database availability.
* Extensive experience and expertise in database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimisation.
* Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, and applying database patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities.
* Highly experienced in diagnosing and resolving complex database issues including incident resolution and problem management.
* Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
* Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and maintaining robust database backup and recovery procedures.
* Experience in shell scripting and crontab jobs in Linux/Unix environment.

Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check and obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
