About the Opportunity
An exciting temporary part-time opportunity is available for an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Acute Pain Service (APS). Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment, you will play an integral role in delivering evidence-based pain management care to patients across a complex clinical setting. The Acute Pain Service works closely with senior nursing and midwifery staff within the acute pain management specialty to maintain contemporary clinical knowledge and build strong, sustainable professional networks. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive and patient-focused service committed to improving patient outcomes and experiences. In this role, you will be supported by the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery, with access to ongoing professional support, collaboration and development opportunities to assist you in succeeding within the position.
What You Will Be Doing
You will provide safe, evidence-based and person-centred care and education within a multidisciplinary team environment, working collaboratively with patients experiencing acute and chronic non-cancer pain, their families and carers to achieve identified healthcare goals and outcomes. The Acute Pain Service coordinates the timely provision of safe, high-quality and cost-effective care to acute pain patients across the continuum of care. The service provides specialised acute pain management for patients within a complex and mixed clinical environment, including those undergoing elective or emergency surgery, patients referred through the Emergency Department for trauma-related conditions, and patients referred by specialty units and primary teams across the hospital. In this dynamic role, you will combine advanced clinical knowledge with compassionate care to support patients and contribute to positive healthcare outcomes. The position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery.

You bring strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
Essential requirements:
Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in pain management of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
Demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience in pain management
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care delivery
