An Australian owned and operated manufacturer producing engineered timber products locally and distributing nationally, with all customer service teams based onsite in Australia and working closely with production and logistics. They operate in a fast-paced, product-led environment, supplying directly to businesses across the building and construction sector, with a strong focus on service, reliability and next-day delivery.
Position Purpose
This is an ideal opportunity for a mid-career customer service leader seeking long-term stability and growth, combining hands-on leadership with the chance to build and develop a national team, improve systems and processes alongside IT, and progress into broader operations leadership over time within a fast-paced, Australian owned manufacturing environment.
The Opportunity
* Lead a national customer service team across multiple sites, managing a small onsite team across two shifts and providing functional leadership nationally
* Be hands-on in daily operations initially, supporting orders, quotes, credits and customer enquiries
* Allocate workloads daily to meet next-day delivery commitments
* Coach, mentor and develop a diverse team both in person and remotely
* Build a high-performing, engaged team culture aligned with company values
* Work closely with production, despatch, sales and IT teams to ensure seamless order flow
* Partner with IT to improve in-house systems for order release, picking, cutting and workload balancing
* Develop, document and audit procedures for consistent national processes
* Train the national team on systems and workflows
* Support succession planning, with future coverage for senior logistics and scheduling roles
About You
* Experience managing customer service teams across multiple sites or locations
* Enjoy leading teams in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
* Background in product-based businesses that manufacture in Australia and distribute nationally
* Experience in building products, construction supplies, manufacturing, logistics, transport, wholesale or B2B distribution
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Emotionally intelligent and comfortable having constructive conversations
* Organised, proactive and decisive
* Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or similar, with solid Excel skills
* Demonstrated loyalty and long-term commitment in previous roles
* Willingness to travel interstate on occasion
