About the office
The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth.
About the role
This role supports the Manager, Commercial Finance by designing and developing complex financial models and analysing data to inform university decision-making. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the position ensures models are fit for purpose within broader processes while meeting stakeholder needs. The role also includes mentoring peers and/or team members to enhance capability across the function.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and evaluate fit-for-purpose financial models and supporting processes, delivering robust analysis to inform decision-making by key stakeholders.
* Build and sustain strong understanding of the University's operational and financial models to ensure accurate, relevant, and effective financial modelling and forecasting.
* Prepare financial modelling frameworks for business cases and feasibility assessments, including discounted cash flow, net present value, internal rate of return, and scenario analysis.
* Develop presentations, data visualisation dashboards, and clear model documentation to support insights.
* Manage stakeholder relationships independently, including mentoring team members, training end users, liaising with external partners and Legal, and delivering ad hoc modelling and cross-functional projects.
Qualifications, skills & experience
* CA/CPA level qualifications or equivalent and extensive relevant experience.
* Significant experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and financial modelling, using complex accounting systems, large data sets, and reporting and analysis tools to support decision-making.
* Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively, working collaboratively across all levels of the organisation and with external parties.
* Proven capability in developing business knowledge of operational and financial models and applying this knowledge to create fit-for-purpose financial models, processes, and risk-informed advice for strategic decisions.
* Strong experience in data visualisation and tailoring financial insights and presentations to suit diverse audiences.
* Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive continuous improvement, mentor others, and deliver high-quality, service-focused outcomes.
