Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer
Leidos seeks an experienced engineer to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12 kV to 500 kV, with a focus on renewable energy integration.
Responsibilities
* Relay one‐line design, three‐line AC schematic design, and DC protection schematic design.
* Panel layout, wiring design, and bill of materials development.
* Quality control of wiring design and construction support.
* Provide design support from scoping through implementation.
* Apply National Electrical Safety Code requirements and client standards.
* Work with designers/drafters to create drawings and oversee project lifecycle.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
* 8 + years of substation protection/control design and/or field testing and commissioning experience.
* Proficiency in reading and creating one‐line, three‐line, AC/DC schematic, and wiring drawings.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients.
* Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and work independently.
* High analytical and problem‐solving skills; excellent computer competency.
* Willingness to travel to project and client sites (10‐20 % travel).
Preferred Qualifications
* EIT or PE certification.
* Experience in quality control of substation designs.
* Experience with CAD tools.
* Master's degree in a related field.
