Overview
The Department of Health's Theatre Support Officer delivers vital operational support within the operating theatre, assisting with room preparation, equipment use, patient movement, and infection control to ensure safe, efficient, and dignified perioperative care.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain operating rooms, ensuring equipment is functional and ready for surgical procedures.
* Assist with safe handling, positioning, and movement of patients in line with work‐health and safety requirements.
* Support the use of specialised theatre equipment and maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention.
* Collaborate closely with nursing, medical and allied health staff to facilitate smooth peri‐operative service flow.
* Maintain workplace safety and uphold infection control protocols throughout the peri‐operative journey.
Requirements
* Demonstrated ability to safely assist with patient handling, movement, and positioning in a perioperative environment.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast‐paced, high‐pressure setting.
* Knowledge, or the ability to develop knowledge, of theatre equipment, infection prevention and control, and emergency procedures relevant to perioperative practice.
* Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support, through a nationally accredited training provider.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 pro rata per annum, plus 12% employer superannuation contribution.
Casual loading of 25%, equivalent to $42.34 to $45.45.
