Maritime Safety Queensland is seeking a permanent Principal Manager (Operations) to join its Boat Harbour Operations team.Some of Your Responsibilities Will IncludeDirect the strategic and operational management of the unit to ensure effective and efficient delivery of public marine facilities.Manage the operation and maintenance of maritime assets, including public marine facilities and the operational vessel fleet within state-managed boat harbours.Develop and manage operational budgets for decision-making, ensuring compliance with statutory and departmental requirements.Ensure funding and procurement of operational activities are carried out in accordance with governance requirements. Identify and escalate capital programs of work, overseeing project management to ensure delivery.Support the coordination and resolution of operational compliance matters in state-managed boat harbours under the Transport Infrastructure (Public Marine Facilities) Regulation 2023.Represent MSQ's interests at relevant committees, forums, or community-based events and meetings to increase awareness about regulatory requirements.Plan, prioritise, and allocate work according to risk management principles to enhance MSQ's key outcomes.Provide legislative advice to internal and external customer enquiries, including coordination of ministerial and general enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.Advise on commercial leasing activities within state boat harbour boundaries.Contribute to capital marine infrastructure planning and future development activities through the master planning process.Represent the Director (Boat Harbours) at divisional and departmental meetings, committees, and seminars.Mandatory Qualifications and ConditionsTravel, including overnight, is required; a "C" class driver's license is mandatory.Requirements of the RoleAccountability for results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.Political awareness and proactive stakeholder engagement to foster collaborative relationships.High standards of interpersonal skills, customer service, and negotiation.Proactive management of staff, including remote teams.Adherence to governance frameworks, especially in procurement and contract management.Compliance with s26(1) of the Public Service Act 2008 and the Public Service Code of Conduct, with delegated HR, procurement, and financial responsibilities.Applications will remain current for 12 months.Occupational Group: Management
