The Department
Alfred Psychiatry is a recognized leader in acute and community psychiatric care, with a State-wide Psychiatric ICU. The Nursing Workforce Department includes The Workforce Unit and Staffing Allocations, providing supplementary staff to meet increased service demands. We handle advanced and just-in-time bookings, recruiting both casual and permanent staff for Bank and Pool roles, and develop strategies to maximize staff retention and educational programs.
The Position
We seek motivated psychiatric registered nurses to work across various bed-based services, including our acute psychiatric unit at Alfred Hospital and the Residential Rehabilitation (Community Care Unit in St Kilda). Flexibility and shift availability are highly valued. Nurses will engage in direct patient care involving risk assessment, mental state assessment, and care planning, along with collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The goal is to facilitate clinical and individual recovery and reduce systemic barriers.
Work may be required at all Alfred Health Sites (Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital, Sandringham Hospital).
Skills and Qualifications
* Unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
* Extensive experience in mental health as a psychiatric nurse
