Role Overview
A full‐time opportunity exists for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Competition team in Melbourne. You will work directly with highly specialised, leading partners and a close-knit, collaborative team of lawyers nationally who are recognised as one of Australia's 'elite' competition practices (as recognised by the Global Competition Review).
Responsibilities
Your role will be varied and challenging, assisting clients in managing ACCC competition and consumer law investigations, achieving competition clearance for mergers and assisting clients achieve business objectives. Your role will include working with global and domestic clients on complex competition and consumer law matters such as international and domestic merger clearances, competition‐related litigation and investigations, authorisations and consumer protection. This is an ideal opportunity to be involved in a range of interesting and intellectually stimulating matters. You will be part of a team, collaborating across practice areas and across offices, as well as working with individuals who are recognised as leaders in their fields.
Qualifications
* Minimum 4 years' post admission
* Australia, UK, NZ, Hong Kong or South African qualified, or alternatively US qualified or qualified in a European jurisdiction with substantial competition law experience (with a willingness to obtain relevant Australian qualifications)
* Strong experience in advising clients on competition and consumer law matters
* Strong technical skills and the ability to deliver quality, commercial and pragmatic advice efficiently and under pressure
* A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts
* Strong communication and relationship skills
* Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
* An interest in and willingness to contribute to business development initiatives including presentations, client training and publications
