About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our world-leading School of Psychology to support research on an ARC Discovery Project aimed at charting the development of foresight in young children.
Working with project leads Professor Thomas Suddendorf, Dr Kristy Armitage and Dr Sarah Coundouris, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise and emerging research profile in cognitive development, as well as contribute to student supervision, and service and engagement activities.
In this role, you will examine the development of foresight through a series of studies with the aim of developing a standardised multifaceted battery that captures the dynamic trajectories of children's foresight capacities. Your primary responsibility will be pilot testing and data collection with child participants. You'll also have the opportunity to collaborate on related research projects and publish in reputable journals.
This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ's Criteria for Academic Performance.
About You
* Completion or near completion of a PhD in developmental psychology, with a focus on cognitive development.
* An emerging research profile in developmental psychology, with expertise in children's foresight strongly preferred.
* A demonstrated record of conducting in-person testing of children, and experience with coding and analysing data from tasks measuring cognitive performance.
* A strong early career publication record in reputed refereed journals.
* Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external service activities.
Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks including verification of the right to work in Australia (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment) and a Working with Children Blue Card. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
