About the Role
You will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems for bespoke automation and special-purpose machinery. This is a varied, hands‑on role that spans concept development through to commissioning.
You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and clients, contributing across the entire project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for bespoke machinery, assemblies and mechanisms, including conveyors, robotics interfaces and motion‑controlled equipment.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
- Perform engineering calculations and undertake material selection.
- Collaborate in the development of automated systems.
- Support fabrication, machining and assembly teams with clear, practical engineering advice.
- Participate in project scoping, customer meetings and design safety reviews.
- Assist with machine testing, troubleshooting and commissioning.
- Ensure designs meet safety standards and comply with Australian regulations.
About You
We’re seeking an engineer who is technically strong, practically minded and enjoys solving real mechanical challenges — someone who wants to see their designs operating on the workshop floor.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience in machinery, automation, robotics, manufacturing or similar.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or a similar CAD package).Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, machining, fabrication and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with GMP, WHS and preventive maintenance systems.
- Familiarity with risk analysis processes (AS 4024).
- Experience with pneumatics, industrial components and motion systems.
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to assist during builds and commissioning.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to work autonomously when required.
