About the Role The Field Education Coordinator is a social work academic who provides professional leadership and support for field placements within Ikon Institute's Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees. In this role, you'll apply your social work knowledge to the coordination, delivery, and assessment of placements, ensuring they meet both academic and professional standards. You'll oversee all aspects of the program, from securing high-quality, real-world learning opportunities for students to coordinating support for students, field educators, and host organizations throughout the entire process. Ultimately, you'll ensure that every social work student gains the necessary experience to achieve course learning outcomes and demonstrate the required AASW practice standards. Key Responsibilities Placement Management: You'll oversee all systems for coordinating field placements, building and maintaining relationships with community and government organizations to secure diverse opportunities for students. You'll also work with the Work Placement Team to administer agreements and ensure compliance with Australian Social Work Education Accreditation Standards. Student and Staff Support: You are responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting Academic Liaison Visitors to ensure they are well-equipped for their roles. You will also design and deliver workshops to prepare and support students for their placements, fostering a positive and supportive culture across the entire program. Quality & Compliance: You will collaborate with academic staff to develop policies and resources, maintain comprehensive records of student performance, and assess applications for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). Your role also involves ensuring all academic operations align with regulatory frameworks such as AQF, AASW, ESOS, and the National Code. Leadership & Development: You'll attend key meetings, complete required reporting, and engage in your own scholarly practice and professional development, modeling Ikon's core values in all aspects of your work. Education, experience & skills Eligibility for AASW membership A Bachelor Degree or higher in Social Work and a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience. Experience supervising social work students on field placements. Knowledge of higher education requirements and AASW standards. Knowledge of the human services sector in Australia and contemporary social work practice. Knowledge of contemporary social work teaching, learning and assessment, academic role, modes of delivery, and the needs of student cohorts. Passion for social work education that prepares graduates with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively to disadvantage and distress in society. Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills. Willingness to undergo a National Police and Working with Children check, if required. Why Join Us?
