Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) is seeking an experienced Team Leader to join the team and lead the successful delivery of timely and efficient election services.
The Team Leader, Elections is responsible for leading and managing a small team of permanent employees in the delivery of agency work programs and projects, as well as managing a temporary/casual workforce during major electoral events.
Reporting to the Manager Elections, the Team Leader, Elections will:
1. Be a strong leader who is agile, self-motivated and results-driven
2. Ensure high-quality management of work programs that deliver critical election services and supporting activities by:
* Supporting the formulation of team goals for immediate tasks and assisting the branch with strategic long-term planning, including prioritising work activities, fostering team unity, and ensuring successful results,
* Leading a team to ensure effective delivery of designated projects and activities, and doing so through allocation and monitoring of work tasks and outputs and provision of guidance and support,
* Providing regular guidance and support to team members in their work task,
* Proactively engaging in regular performance feedback processes and identifying training and development needs for team.
3. Assume responsibility for the successful delivery of agency work programs, projects and supporting services, including:
* Progressing the planning, design and delivery of allocated election projects under the functional program model, including for but not limited to First Nations Voice to Parliament election, by-elections, 2026 state election, as applicable,
* Providing timely and expert advice to stakeholders regarding election services,
* Ensuring the accuracy and currency of procedures, processes and related documentation, including the review and update of electoral materials and forms for compliance with current electoral practice and legislation,
* Managing scrutiny and counts and supervising count staff to ensure all relevant legislation and rules are adhered to,
* Reporting on election services and supporting activities including the collection, collation and production of statistics,
* May from time to time deliver information sessions to a wide range of stakeholders and candidates, including training to electoral officials.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with significant experience in leading and managing teams, proven project management experience and experience prioritising and coordinating activities to achieve deadlines.
High level written and verbal communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and develop and maintain positive working relationships, along with the ability to interpret legislation and implement compliant outcomes, are essential to this role.
Special Conditions
* This role is offered on an ongoing basis
* In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee.
* Employment is dependent upon a Criminal history check that the Commission finds satisfactory.
* Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during the period of an election.
* Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Remuneration
* ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 per annum
