**Job Title: Category Manager - Packaging and Consumables

**About the role**
You will get exposure to a range of Apparel, Consumable and Packaging Materials across the Goods Not For Resale space that would be difficult to find elsewhere covering the entire Woolworths group of companies in Australia and NZ. The position is within the Procurement Team and reports through to the Portfolio Manage Packaging and Consumables. In this role, you will balance Sustainability, Packaging Development, Operations and best fit approach adhering to Procurement Policies.
**Key Responsibilities:
- Develop & execute sourcing strategies (RFx, Negotiation, Selection, Award).
- Contract Management (administration, development, execution, management).
- Identify procurement activity stakeholders and influence them as required to achieve desired outcomes, up to Senior Management / Divisional Head level.
- Build and maintain momentum and consistency with regards to key stakeholder engagement.
- Develop, implement and manage vendor performance metrics, documents and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management plan (metrics, compliance, continuous improvement plans).
- Anticipate and execute contract-based opportunities.
- Conduct risk analyses and take action as required.
- Collaborate with industry organisations, packaging and consumable suppliers and partners to stay on trend with sustainable innovation, technology, and legislative requirements.
- Identify cost effective sustainable packaging solutions to meet customer and business requirements; work with extended packaging team to bring these projects to life
- Share SME technical expertise across the Woolworths Group to improve understanding of packaging sustainability concepts and contribute to strategy development, develop and provide direction on preferred packaging and consumable materials for sustainability
- Maintain knowledge of packaging/waste industry to identify and manage sustainability challenges
- Provide input to external sustainability communication (i.e. Government Relations, customer letters, media)
**About You**
We are looking for a strong negotiator & people influencer with the following skills:
- Essential - minimum 5-10 years experience in a retail/FMCG/manufacturing environment
- Experience in rigid and flexible plastics, fibre board and clothing highly advantageous
- Understanding of Australian waste management processes highly advantageous
- Previous experience in sustainability focused role
- Membership of a Procurement affiliated body highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of total cost of ownership principles and value levers
- An ability to manage multiple projects and commitments
- Demonstrated experience as a Category Manager within a large, centralised procurement function.
- Sound appreciation of category management principles and processes, with an understanding of contract law.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across large geographies and multiple projects.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills
- High level of commercial acumen & strategic thinking
- Understanding of business and financial models
- High standard of English verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management skills - workload planning and prioritisation.
- Proficient at learning, navigating and utilising systems such as SAP, Ariba, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-reliant, proactive, anticipates and takes initiative to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
