Big Chief Hire in Burton is looking for a Transport Administrator to become an essential part of a fast‐paced team that keeps our transport operations running efficiently. Working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams, you'll play a key role in coordinating schedules, managing administration tasks, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
About the Role
As an Administration Assistant, reporting to the National Transport Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of our Heavy Haulage operations—bringing strong document control, assisting with managing scheduling, and helping to ensure equipment is delivered on time and ready for action. You'll maximise every efficiency opportunity through your day‐to‐day interactions and keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the document control of end‐to‐end deliveries including bookings, assisting scheduling, dispatch and returns.
* Assist with coordinating transport, delivery and collection of machinery and vehicles.
* Maintain accurate records of all equipment— in branch, on route, or in service/repair.
* Monitor and manage Excel spreadsheets, system logs, and related documentation.
* Allocate jobs through the CRM system.
* Purchase orders.
* Invoicing.
* Data entry into ERP system.
* Driver administration.
* Site induction coordination.
* Coordination of driver licences.
* Adherence to customer systems.
* General clerical and administration supporting the two transport managers.
About You
* Previous experience in truck or machinery transport operations (advantageous).
* Strong multitasking and time‐management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication—confident, clear and solution‐focused.
* High attention to detail with strong accuracy in documentation.
* Experience with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, etc).
* A proactive mindset and strong problem‐solving ability.
