About The Role
The primary role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) on Yandilla is to support the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to provide leadership and direction to the clinical and non-clinical team members within the unit to affect a high standard of clinical and professional care. Yandilla is a 16-bed mixed medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity ward. Registered Nurses who are also Registered Midwives are eligible to apply for this role.
The ANUM Role
* Will be employed to work in charge of the Yandilla ward
* Works collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate and foster the provision of best practice standards of nursing and midwifery care and service delivery that meets the needs of the patient, their families and carers.
* Demonstrates expert knowledge and clinical skills and a strong management focus in the clinical unit.
* Is accountable and responsible for clinical coordination and resource management of the unit on a shift-to-shift basis.
* Is a clinical leader and resource to the nursing and midwifery team assisting with problem-solving and delivery of best practice, evidence-based and person-centred care.
On a shift-by-shift basis, the ANUM will be responsible for the development and implementation of processes and procedures, effective and efficient admission and discharge planning, management of appropriate staffing levels, performance management and team member compliance with education and competency requirements.
The ANUM will be expected to work rotating shifts including day, afternoon and night shifts.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse/Midwife with current AHPRA registrations
* If a Registered Midwife must possess and maintain FSEP Level 3 practitioner status within the past 12 months.
* Excellent communication and ability to problem solve and make decisions in a variety of complex situations.
* commitment to continuous quality improvement and person-centred care
* proficiency in the use of information technology
* clinical skills relevant to medical, surgical and paediatric nursing (and midwifery if applicable)
* minimum of 3 years' experience in clinical area of application.
* Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards of practice, legal and ethical requirements and industrial relations
Desirable
* to have or working towards managerial qualifications i.e. short courses or postgraduate qualifications.
