About The Team

Campus Operations and Services delivers strategic planning and coordinated operational support to ensure a safe, high‑quality environment for Murdoch University's students, staff and community. Its services include grounds and landscape maintenance, security, parking, transport, cleaning, waste management, pest control, mail and logistics.

Within this unit, the role leads the planning, management and delivery of the University's grounds and landscape services, including:

* Grounds and landscape maintenance
* Contractor management and service delivery
* Landscape rehabilitation and project management
* Environmental sustainability and biodiversity
* Campus activation and event support
* Asset and infrastructure performance
* WHS, risk, and compliance
* Systems, policy, and reporting

Your New Role

Under the broad direction of the Manager, Campus Operations and Services, this role leads the operational and administrative aspects of grounds, landscape, and open‑space management. The Grounds and Landscapes Manager works with colleagues and stakeholders to oversee contracts and manage services, ensuring Murdoch University's campuses are maintained in line with the Campus Development Plan, Sustainability Strategy, and required standards.

The position plans, coordinates the delivery of grounds maintenance and services and refurbishment works, ensuring campus open spaces, landscapes and biodiversity are sustainably managed, compliant with safety and legislative requirements, and provides an aesthetic and welcoming environment for the University community.

Your key responsibilities will include –

* Lead and manage all grounds and landscape services including contractor management, planned and reactive maintenance, asset performance, scope of works and tender development, WHS, risk management and compliance, and the effective use of systems such as GIS and arborist databases
* Deliver sustainable, aesthetic and high-quality campus landscapes by implementing sustainable landscape plans, overseeing rehabilitation activities and biodiversity initiatives, fostering innovative, industry best practice and environmentally aligned maintenance methods, and ensuring alignment with the University's Sustainability Strategy and Campus Development Plan
* Manage the formulation, application and maintenance of documentation including policies, guidelines, systems and reporting
* Oversee financial, stakeholder and project management activities including budget management, funding proposals, collaboration with internal stakeholders and government agencies, and supporting colleagues, students, and community groups on landscape conservation, biodiversity projects, research activities and community gardens

This Continuous | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $114,000 – $130,000 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you'll bring to the role:

* Relevant degree or diploma (e.g., Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management or Sustainability) or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of WA biodiversity, reserves and sustainable landscape practices
* Proven ability to oversee contractors and suppliers, plan and facilitate delivery of grounds maintenance services, passive and recreational spaces, habitat environments, asset management, and landscape development using sustainable, innovative and industry best practices Experience developing scope of works, requests for funding, procuring services, managing contractor performance and compliance, and overseeing budgets, expenditure and financial administration,
* Strong safety focus, risk management application, compliance with legislation and standards and the ability to proactively solve problems, organise workloads, and manage competing priorities
* Demonstrated capability to formulate and maintain grounds and landscape related documentation, policy, guidelines systems, databases and reporting
* d Proven ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with colleagues and varied stakeholders, supported by excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
