We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Boortmalt APAC team as a Production Technician. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be based in Perth, Western Australia and will be an integral member of the production team, responsible for various aspects of malt production, raw material assessment, supply chain functions and laboratory analysis. This role will rotate through all aspects of malt production and will require participation in physical tasks, a focus on plant hygiene, and diligent paperwork skills.
Qualifications & experience
* This role will require the candidate to participate in 24 hour rotational shift work which will include weekends and public holidays.
* A Degree or Certificate in Science or Agriculture is preferred but not required.
* You will be a self-starter, agile, robust, and a resilient team player able to thrive in a fast paced working environment grasping a broad range of activities, adhere to processes, take initiatives and contribute towards building a strong safety culture.
* Strong technical knowledge and aptitude; Practical and systematic problem solving skills; Excellent interpersonal, English communication skills; Practical computer skills; SCADA operation experience.
* Be able to work autonomously, be self-motivated and proactive.
* Ability to partake in physically challenging hygiene activities within an industrial environment.
* Ability to be flexible under changing environment, workloads, and timelines.
* Ability to contribute in a team environment through developing positive working relationships that are based on integrity and trust.
* Be able to pass a pre employment medical as well as a Drug and Alcohol test.
Tasks & responsibilities
* Responsible for monitoring of process conditions, ensuring malting objectives set by the production manager are achieved.
* The Production Operator will rotate through various aspects of the malting process, including dry grain handling, basic laboratory analysis, plant control and hygiene activities.
* Ensure break downs or perceived problems are communicated in a timely manor
* Accountable for the safety of yourself, your work colleagues, customers and contractors. Work to achieve a zero harm environment and strive for continuous improvement on EH&S performance.
* Contribute to the development of a food safety culture. Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to food safety and quality management.
* Ensure plant HACCP, Quality and Continuous Improvement systems are followed and requirements are met.
* As part of the production team, work to meet daily operational KPI's.
