About the Role We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Buyer to join our retail team and lead end-to-end buying activity across assigned categories.
This role is responsible for developing compelling ranges, optimising financial performance, driving supplier partnerships, and delivering customer-focused assortments that maximise sales, margin and inventory efficiency.
The ideal candidate is data-savvy, confident in negotiation, understands retail market dynamics, and can balance creative product vision with strong commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities Range Planning Product Strategy Develop seasonal and annual product strategies aligned to brand direction, customer insights, and commercial targets.
Build and manage category assortments including new product development, range reviews, and SKU optimisation.
Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and sales performance to inform buying decisions.
Source, onboard, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, payment terms, and exclusivities.
Build strong supplier partnerships to drive collaboration, innovation, and supply chain efficiency.
Manage critical path, production timelines and ensure suppliers meet quality and compliance requirements.
Commercial Financial Management Own category P L including sales, margin, markdown, and inventory performance.
Forecast demand and manage OTB to ensure optimal stock levels across channels.
Review weekly trading results, recommending actions to react to sales trends, underperformance, or opportunities.
Support promotional strategy, pricing decisions, and clearance planning Skills Experience Required 4+ years experience as a Buyer or Category Specialist within a retail environment.
Strong understanding of retail math, margin management, inventory planning and financial KPIs.
Proven experience in supplier negotiation, sourcing, and product development.
Highly analytical with advanced Excel skills and familiarity with BI/reporting tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Commercially minded, customer-centric, and results driven.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
