The Opportunity
Cochlear is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer to join the Brisbane Operations team. In this role you will use your technical expertise to support manufacturing and help achieve key production targets. The position is highly visible, involves cross‐functional teamwork, and focuses on addressing complex manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and enhancing yield, quality and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the main technical contact for yield, quality and throughput issues.
* Analyze and resolve complex production problems and propose solutions beyond standard methods.
* Lead investigations into manufacturing rejects, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Oversee accurate handling of Non‐Conformance Reports (NCRs) and concessions.
* Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems and regulatory standards.
* Identify and implement improvements in safety, quality and cost across manufacturing lines.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and junior team members.
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to enhance business processes.
* Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Minimum Requirements
* Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, Mechatronics or related field).
* Extensive experience in a regulated manufacturing setting.
* Background working within a Quality Management System.
* Strong problem‐solving skills, especially in manufacturing or process improvement.
* Ability to influence and communicate effectively with various stakeholder groups.
Ideal Experience
* Background in the medical device industry and knowledge of GMP.
* Experience with LEAN manufacturing or continuous improvement methods.
* Familiarity with manufacturing management systems and process optimisation tools.
* Experience using project management tools and structured problem‐solving techniques.
