The region offers stunning natural beauty, vibrant community experiences, and a more affordable cost of living compared to larger cities.This is a full-time permanent role as a Staff Specialist/Senior Staff Specialist in Forensic Pathology within our Townsville Laboratory. The ideal applicant will demonstrate contemporary knowledge and skills and share our passion for clinical excellence.Forensic Pathology and Coronial Services provides critical support to Queensland's criminal justice and coronial systems, working with the Coroners Court of Queensland and the Queensland Police Service. The service undertakes examinations and investigations of reportable deaths, supporting public health responses and civil emergencies. This role involves conducting specialist forensic pathology duties, along with teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities, serving the people of Queensland and promoting justice and support for families, police, and courts.Key competenciesDemonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills, and professionalism in Forensic Pathology, including objectivity.High-level interpersonal and communication skills.Skills and knowledge in training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis, and management.Qualifications and requirementsMedical qualification and tertiary qualification in Pathology (FRCPA or equivalent), registered with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist with RCPA scope in Forensic Pathology.Alternatively, FRCPA holders with specialist registration and RCPA scope in anatomical or general pathology may be considered, with evidence of enrollment in the Diploma in Forensic Pathology (DFP) exam.Knowledge of ISO 15189 NATA Medical Laboratories standards, NPAAC standards, and laboratory accreditation processes.Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirementsMust be vaccinated against Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella, Varicella, and Meningococcus ACWY and B during employment.TB screening required.Immunizations against Tetanus, Influenza, and COVID-19 are strongly recommended.Please review the full role description and application details.
