JMG Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Hobart team. We would welcome applicants with backgrounds in water, developments and/or roads to complement our growing Civil Engineering Team of specialists in these areas.

About the Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will join our dynamic Civil team, using your technical expertise to deliver civil infrastructure projects specialising in the water, development or roads sectors for our clients.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the delivery of specialist (water or roads) or multi-disciplinary projects including design documentation, technical reports, and specifications.
* Acting as Project Manager and Lead Designer for civil projects across state, municipal, authority, commercial, and marine sectors—delivering within scope, budget, and timeframes.
* Preparing fee proposals, client expectations, and managing project resources.
* Liaising with clients, contractors, stakeholders, councils, and authorities.
* Building strong relationships with our clients to become their trusted advisor.
* Mentoring junior engineers and technical staff.
* Actively contributing to continuous improvement and technical development within the team.
About You
* Desirable of 8 years' post-graduate experience in civil engineering.
* Eligibility for or current Chartered status (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
* Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of a variety of projects that may include water and sewer infrastructure (distribution and trunk mains, pump stations, reservoirs, treatment plants).
* Stormwater design (rainfall and runoff calculations, overland flow modelling, flood analysis, detention modelling, stormwater quality treatment).
* Civil infrastructure projects for public and private clients.
* Road and pavement designs (3D Design software for local and state roads).
* A solid understanding of WSAA, TasWater, IPWEA, and AR&R standards and guidelines.
* A concise understanding of Austroads, and relevant Australian Standards necessary for road design.
* A sound understanding of geotechnical fundamentals.
* Experience in the compilation of Specifications and Contracts.
* Excellent written communication skills, including technical report and specification writing.
* Experience working in a consulting environment, with a good grasp of commercial drivers.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, client-focused approach.
