We are seeking a Senior Asset Accountant to join our Corporate Finance Group, Finance and Business Performance Division.

o Base salary range of $112,625 - $116,390 depending on experience, plus Superannuation
The Opportunity
As the Senior Asset Accountant you will be primarily responsible for the management of Hunter Water's assets registers and providing capital project governance & support.
What you'll do:
o Responsible for the management of Hunter Water's three asset registers (accounting, tax and regulatory).
o Responsible for the timely addition of capital assets, including the processing of developer asset additions and retirements.
o Preparation of month-end journals, adjustments, reconciliations and reporting of asset information.
o Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and Australian Accounting Standards.
o Assist with the processing of asset revaluations and impairments.
o Engage with all areas of the business to ensure efficient and effective capital and asset management practices at Hunter Water.
o Assist with the preparation of Hunter Water's internal and external reporting requirements associated with assets.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
o Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
o CPA or CA designation or working towards designation.
o Demonstrated experience in asset accounting and/or capital project accounting.
o Demonstrated understanding of commercial business principles and practices.
o Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven workplace and to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst still meeting team and corporate deadlines.
o Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
o Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate a high level of self-motivation.
Desirable Criteria:
o Experience using enterprise resource systems in a corporate environment.
o Experience in management of an Asset Register
o Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, accounting policies and practices
