Volunteer will bring residents together for friendly, thought-provoking discussions about what's happening in the world.
As a Current Affairs Circle Volunteer, you'll help create a space where residents can share opinions, ask questions, and stay connected to the wider world over a cuppa, newspaper and a good chat.
Responsibilities
Facilitate regular group discussions on news, current events and trending topics to keep residents informed and engaged
Encourage respectful sharing of ideas and experiences to foster a welcoming space where all viewpoints are valued
Use newspapers, articles, or headlines to spark conversation and stimulate curiosity and critical thinking
Celebrate open-mindedness and community spirit to help residents feel connected and heard
Volunteer only in the communal areas and never enter residents' private residences to ensure privacy and maintain respectful boundaries

Be able to guide discussions with warmth and neutrality
Be a great listener and confident group facilitator, passionate about books
Be reliable, flexible and committed
Ability to make personal connections with staff, volunteers, senior people, and their families regardless of cultural backgrounds, beliefs and denominations

Time Required: 2 hours per week or fortnight, between Monday to Friday.
Days & times can be mutually agreed with the volunteer.
