*APS6 Senior Communications & Media AdvisorsA Highly Regarded National Regulator is seeking two experienced APS6 Senior Communications and Media Advisors to join a small and dedicated communications team supporting externally focused communications, media and strategic activity in a complex national regulatory environment.
The work is varied and impactful, contributing to communications that support regulatory decision‑making and public confidence at a national level. These non‑ongoing contracts include:*
* One role through to 30 June 2026, with potential extension
* One 12‑month contract, with potential extension
**About the Roles*This is a strong opportunity for senior communications professionals looking to deepen their experience in media‑facing, regulatory government work.
The communications environment is fast paced, risk aware and closely connected to regulatory decision‑making. The work is varied and often time‑critical, requiring strong judgement, clear writing and the confidence to operate under pressure.
You will support the delivery of strategic and operational communications across media, executive messaging, digital channels and parliamentary processes.
Positions are open to candidates in all state capitals. Full time hours, with hybrid working flexibility of up to two days per week. Key responsibilities***
* Assist with the writing, coordination and production of internal and external communications across multiple channels
* Support media activities by responding to media enquiries under direction, managing the media inbox and contributing to daily media reporting
* Draft media products under tight timeframes, including media responses, releases, talking points, defensive media lines and proactive media materials, for review and clearance
* Provide communications and narrative support to internal stakeholders, including assisting teams to shape external messaging
* Assist in the design, coordination and delivery of multi‑channel communications and media plans aligned to organisational priorities
* Contribute to executive‑level internal communications, including all‑staff messaging and strategic intranet content, particularly supporting CEO and Executive leadership communications
* Support brand management activities, including monitoring the application of approved brand and style guidelines
* Create and schedule social media content and contribute to reporting and performance monitoring
* Assist with Ministerial and Parliamentary processes, including contributing to briefs for Senate Estimates and Parliamentary Committee hearings
* Work collaboratively across the organisation to support the provision of timely, accurate and consistent information
* Engage with key external stakeholders, including partner government departments, as required
**About You****You are a senior communications professional who can work comfortably in a regulated government environment and understands the balance between clarity, transparency and risk.You will bring:
* Experience in communications and/or media roles within the public sector
* Strong writing skills, with the ability to translate complex and sensitive issues into clear, audience‑appropriate messaging
* Sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities under scrutiny
* Experience providing communications advice to senior stakeholders
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative working style
Experience in education, regulation or public policy is highly regarded, as is familiarity with media‑facing government work. **Eligibility****To be eligible, you must:
* Be an Australian citizen
* Be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
