Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation - Prepare detailed cost estimates for joinery furniture and workstation projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Blueprint Analysis - Analyse blueprints, plans and other documentation to prepare time, costs, materials and labour estimates
Consultation - Consult with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Cost Effectiveness assessments - Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, tracking actual cost relative to bids as the project develops
Collaboration - Work closely with architects, builders, suppliers, procurement, other estimators and sales teams
Documentation - Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and use software to calculate estimates and evaluate a project's financial feasibility
The Ideal Candidate – will have the following skills although does not necessarily have to come from a traditional career path of an Estimator.
You may be a Joiner or Cabinet Maker with extensive pricing experience looking for an opportunity to come off the tools and into an office function.
Ability to read, interpret, and perform take-offs from architectural and joinery drawings to accurately quantify materials and labour
Strong construction knowledge, including joinery techniques, woodworking processes, industry standards, and building regulations
Prior experience as an Estimator, Drafts person, Quantity Surveyor or Contracts Admin estimating for bespoke items, fitted furniture, and complex joinery components produced in workshops
Experience with Excel and Estimating tools
High attention to detail and advanced analytical skills for calculating costs, assessing project risks, and identifying potential issues
