About the role:
As the Senior Development Engineer, your role will focus on reviewing technical plans, preserving environmental values, and providing engineering input for development applications.
What your day will look like:
* Process, assess and report on development applications, ensuring compliance with Council's Planning Scheme and policies.
* Assess and decide the engineering component of all types of development applications and recommend appropriate conditions, both standard and site specific for inclusion in development approval.
* Carry out inspections of construction works, and compliance investigation for engineering works to ensure development conditions are complied with.
* Take an active role in mentoring less experienced Development Engineering staff along with knowledge sharing with the whole department.

What you'll need for success:
* Skills interpreting and applying legislation relevant to Local Government proving your expert knowledge of the Planning Act 2016 and associated legislation and regulations or similar.
* Senior level experience and knowledge in civil design/construction and development assessment approvals and procedures.
* Highly-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including researching and presenting reports to Council and its delegates;
* Ability to prioritise competing workloads and use time management techniques to perform duties in an efficient and effective manner.
* Ability to research, investigate and analyse proposals and matters of a complex nature and illustrate these skills in the implementation of best practice engineering principles.
* Capacity to perform in a team leadership role.
