About The Role This role will lead the Compliance team with second line oversight of ANZ Markets’ global Sales, Capital Markets, and Research functions. It is a key position within both the Markets Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) team and the broader Institutional OR&C team. The successful candidate will provide strategic compliance advice, conduct reviews, and challenge business practices across public-side activities such as sales and research, as well as private-side functions including securitisation, Debt Capital Markets issuance, and Syndicate operations. The role requires strong engagement with senior stakeholders—including the Global Head of Markets and Heads of Sales, Capital Markets, and Research—as well as collaboration with Risk Managers, Business Governance and Controls, and Internal Audit. A core objective is to enhance risk maturity through proactive leadership and guidance, while serving as a role model for sound risk and compliance behavior. Financial Accountability Manage Markets Compliance team costs within approved budget Ensure services are secure, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective Adhere to Group expenditure policies Customer & Stakeholder Engagement Provide expert compliance and regulatory advice to Sales, Capital Markets, and Research Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support coordinated risk management Represent Compliance in regulatory change initiatives and governance forums Collaborate on embedding the I.AM framework across Markets and Enterprise Risk Lead regulatory engagement across jurisdictions (Australia, Singapore, US, UK) Manage regulatory submissions, investigations, and presentations Assess surveillance alerts and advise on potential compliance breaches and conduct risks What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 10–15 years of experience in Global Markets Compliance Deep understanding of regulatory requirements across public-side (Sales, Research) and private-side (Capital Markets, DCM, Securitisation, Syndicate) activities Strong grasp of Markets business functions and products Proven experience in complex, highly regulated environments Well-established internal and external industry networks Recognized role model with a focus on capability building and performance uplift Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing, engaged teams and fostering a positive culture Note: You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills.
