The Opportunity
Step into a role where your project management capability truly shapes the future of our city. As a Project Manager within our Major Projects team, you'll work alongside a skilled project team who share a commitment to delivering high‐quality civil and building infrastructure for our community.
You'll play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering a portfolio of capital works projects from concept and design through to procurement, construction, and finalisation. You'll work closely with internal specialists, external consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders across Council to ensure each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with our organisational values.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary from $106,378.28 up to $132,921 per annum plus superannuation and an operational motor vehicle. A 3.5% Civil Liability allowance may also apply (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience, and qualifications).
What you will be doing
In this role, you will:
* Deliver multiple civil and building projects end‐to‐end. Including concept, approvals, procurement, construction, handover.
* Prepare project scopes, briefs, cost estimates, construction programs, and tender documentation.
* Lead value engineering discussions and ensure designs meet safety, quality, environmental and budget requirements.
* Manage contractor performance, monitor progress against programs, assess variations, and ensure all project documentation is up to date.
* Prepare Development Applications and liaise with statutory authorities to secure necessary approvals.
* Apply and champion WHS best practice across all project phases.
* Support junior engineers by sharing your experience and fostering a collaborative, solutions‐focused team culture.
* Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and community members.
* Use project management software, Gantt charts, databases, and reporting tools to track progress and support clear, informed decision‐making.
About you
You're a capable and confident project professional who thrives on variety, autonomy, and achieving outcomes. You bring:
* A degree in Civil Engineering, Building, or Project Management (or equivalent).
* Proven experience delivering civil and/or building projects from concept through to completion.
* Advanced capability in managing project delivery, budgets, risks, safety, quality, and stakeholder relationships.
* Strength in written and interpersonal communication, allowing you to negotiate, influence, and present confidently.
* Experience preparing Development Applications and navigating regulatory approvals.
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain clarity under pressure.
* Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word‐processing, project Gantt charts, and a natural ability to learn new systems.
* A collaborative mindset and a willingness to support and guide junior engineers.

You bring a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement. A current valid Drivers Licence. Additional tickets, including working at Heights, Powerlines - work safely in the vicinity of, CPR and First Aid, or willingness to obtain within the first three month.
