Overview
Principal Structural Engineer – Stantec, Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. The Principal Structural Engineer will support the Civil Design team in designing structural elements of large civil projects (this role will not focus on Buildings).
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Community Development team in Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast. You will work on structural elements of large civil projects including small bridges, retaining walls, stormwater and wastewater pits, drainage pits, retaining walls and culverts.

Day-to-day tasks would involve designing structural elements for large civil projects, supervision of Structural Drafting resources, large-scale asset maintenance and condition assessment, scoping, design and construction support, applying up-to-date knowledge of construction methods and materials, delivering practical and innovative engineering solutions, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and ensuring high standards of technical work and design calculations.
Responsibilities
* Structural elements of large civil projects including small bridges, retaining walls, stormwater and wastewater pits, drainage pits, retaining walls and culverts.
* Supervision of Structural Drafting resources (current: 1 x Revit drafter with another Revit drafter planned to join).
* Large-scale asset maintenance and condition assessment.
* Scoping, design and construction support.
* Providing up-to-date knowledge of construction methods and materials and their impact on design and construction.
* Delivery of practical and innovative engineering solutions for clients.
* Collaborating across disciplines to deliver a complete project solution.
* Ensuring technical work and design calculations are of the highest standard.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
* Demonstrated 8-10 years structural design experience on large civil projects.
* Ideally experience within a consulting environment.
* RPEQ (Structural) accredited (preferred).
* Structural software knowledge of RAM Concept, SpaceGass or ETABS.
* Experience using a palette of structural materials.
* Familiarity with current Australian design codes.
* Familiarity with analysis, design, reporting and presentation.
* Written and verbal communication skills.
