Desired Skills and Experience
What your new role looks like:
In this role, you'll manage an end‐to‐end portfolio of property claims, applying your technical expertise to collaborate with internal specialists and external stakeholders to deliver timely, high‐quality outcomes and settlements. You'll play an active role in shaping and implementing assessment processes that deliver an outstanding CHU customer experience, while ensuring compliance with policy, legislation and internal protocols.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a portfolio of property claims through assessment, determination and settlement
* Conducting onsite strata assessments to confirm the extent, cause and nature of loss
* Gathering, analysing and collating information and evidence to support determinations, including indemnity and recovery considerations
* Formulating accurate and practical scopes of works where required
* Interpreting policy coverage and providing clear, evidence‐based recommendations
* Negotiating outcomes with stakeholders, including policyholders, trades and other third parties
* Settling and finalising claims in accordance with internal guidelines and service standards
* Maintaining accurate file notes, reports and records in line with compliance requirements
We'd love to meet you if you bring:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry knowledge
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in property claims handling or loss adjusting
* Proven experience managing commercial and catastrophe claims
* Strong research and investigative capability, with the ability to assess complex loss scenarios
* Well‐developed negotiation, conflict resolution and influencing skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to larger groups
* A full driver's licence and flexibility to travel as required
Desirable qualifications and knowledge
* ACILA Diploma in Loss Adjusting or qualifications attained through ANZIIF
* Strong understanding of commercial and residential construction practices
* Working knowledge of property claims law and relevant jurisdictional considerations
