Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is a division of the Tasmania Department of Health that provides public dental care services to eligible Tasmanians. Its primary goal is to improve oral health outcomes across the state, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations.
OHST is a team of approximately 300 people including dentists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists, technicians, dental assistants and administrative staff. Care is provided from 33 clinics around Tasmania. Adult services are predominantly provided from 6 major centres located in Hobart (New Town), Clarence, Glenorchy, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie as well as the 3 Special Care dental Units (located within hospital precincts). Child and Adolescent Services are provided predominantly from 23 community clinics which are either located in a community health centre or are a stand-alone clinic.
The Role
As an Oral Health Therapist/Dental Therapist with Oral Health Services Tasmania, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based dental care to eligible children and adults within your scope of practice. The role includes providing preventative and restorative clinical services, promoting oral health education, and contributing to community-based health promotion initiatives.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to infection prevention and safety standards, and actively participating in quality improvement, professional development, and mentoring activities. The position requires a strong commitment to child safety, culturally safe care, and delivering respectful, patient-centred services aligned with OHST policies and values.
You will need
* Experience in the application of skills and knowledge in contemporary procedures associated with Oral Health Therapy/Dental Therapy.
* Demonstrated clear understanding of the scope of practice principles as described by the Dental Board of Australia, including current infection control practices.
* Knowledge of current NHMRC Infection Control guidelines, OHST guidelines and appropriate legislation, or the ability to acquire this knowledge quickly.

Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker position, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary
$73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
