Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation
(AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to 'Closing the Gap' in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.

consists of four different sections (Health Services, Business Services, Public Health Unit and Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families) which allow them to have a holistic approach to health ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and wellbeing is given the utmost priority.

has an exciting opportunity for a full time
Client Support Officer
to join their
Parlpuru Ninji Kari – Health Centre Section
here in Tennant Creek. This role is offered on a Full-Time basis.
This is a responsible position
requiring confidentially, initiative
and the
ability to undertake administrative skills
. The Client Support Officer predominately works in the Health Centre to
provide culturally appropriate and efficient services to all clients.
This position works closely with the Senior Health Administration Officer in
ensuring continuous improvement in the areas of administration and client services
.
More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
Duties
- General Administrative
* Greet patients and visitors to the Centre and refer or direct them as appropriate.
* Retrieve paper patient files in readiness for appointments if required.
* Update patient biographics, and assist in Medicare, My E-Health & Personally Controlled Health Record on Communicare Systems program.
* Triage clients seeking medical assistance.
* Assist Aboriginal clients and their families to understand health care systems and processes.
* Answer phones, forward calls or take messages as appropriate.
* Daily file/scan patient records in medical files.
* Advise the bus driver of patients to be picked up and assist in getting patients into the Centre as requested by Health Staff.
* Send, receive and distribute faxes.
* Photocopying and filing.
* Maintain the stationery supplies for all staff including clinical and medical stationery and ensure relevant forms available in clinic rooms.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must be of
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent
as this is
an Aboriginal Identified position.

(NT Working with Children's card) obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement in this role. Please refer to NT Safe for further information.
Essential Skills And Experience
You will also need to possess the following:
* Demonstrated understanding of knowledge of Aboriginal customs, behaviours, and traditions of the Barkly Region.
* Demonstrated Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Knowledge of health and social issues facing Aboriginal people in remote and isolated communities.
* Knowledge on values and benefits of a team environment.
* Ability to learn verbal and written administrative skills and willingness to use computer skills such as: Word, Excel, Emails and Google.
* Commitment to working conditions and self-learning and development.
