Brisbane or Warwick based, this position requires extensive travel across Queensland and involves overseeing rollingstock maintenance requirements and facilities. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective utilisation of the Maintenance team, managing inventory stock levels, controlling expenses, and ensuring safety compliance.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring previous experience as a maintainer. The ideal candidate will be based in Brisbane (with frequent travel to Warwick) or Warwick, with the ability to travel to other Queensland locations as needed.
About the Role
* Utilise the Maintenance team to meet operational requirements and customer expectations.
* Assist and mentor Field Service Technicians in rollingstock maintenance activities.
* Manage inventory, including supplier audits, stock takes, component identification, and procurement.
* Develop and update training plans for Field Service Technicians.
* Ensure compliance with ONRSR, Accreditation, and safety standards.
* Lead quarterly safety meetings and follow up on action items.
* Conduct safety interactions and audits, recording outcomes in the safety portal.
* Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting causes and corrective actions.
* Ensure sufficient rollingstock availability for scheduled services.
* Perform bi-annual inventory stocktakes and report findings.
* Manage records in the maintenance database.
* Control expenses and manage work hours according to the Enterprise Agreement and budget.
* Maintain customer relationships and support maintenance scheduling.
What You Will Bring
* Locomotive specialist knowledge required.
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* 5+ years' experience in EMD or GE locomotive maintenance; rail industry experience preferred.
* Strong knowledge of rollingstock, locomotive, and wagon maintenance, including facility management.
* Understanding of railroad operations and customer service.
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency with technology and systems.
* Leadership skills to empower and develop team members.
