Task & responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with the restaurant’s established recipes and instructions provided by the Chef Provide assistance with menu planning when required Carry out food preparation tasks across designated kitchen sections, including chopping, marinating, portioning and assembling ingredients to ensure consistency and quality Cook and present dishes according to standard portion sizes and plating guidelines set by the kitchen management Store, label and rotate food items in line with stock control procedures and first in, first out principles Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, utensils and kitchen equipment in accordance with food safety requirements Comply at all times with hygiene, health and safety regulations and company policies Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries to ensure ingredients meet quality and freshness standards Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during service periods to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently Report any issues relating to stock levels, equipment faults or food quality to the Chef or kitchen supervisor promptly Qualification & experience Minimum of one year proven full-time experience related to Cook in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen environment Formal qualifications in Commercial Cooker/ Kitchen Management (Certificate III minimum or equivalent) or if no formal qualification, a minimum of three years work experience performing tasks as a Cook. Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and strict adherence to hygiene and safety practices Ability to perform effectively under pressure while working collaboratively as part of a professional kitchen team Strong communication skills with the capacity to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively Demonstrated flexibility with a positive, can-do attitude, and availability to work across a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays Applications from Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are highly encouraged.
