We are seeking a capable and detail‐driven Payroll Officer to join our finance and workforce team on a 4‐day‐per‐week basis. This role suits someone who enjoys accuracy, problem‐solving, and supporting a large, people‐focused organisation. Experience in the childcare sector is highly regarded, and proficiency with Employment Hero is essential.
About The Role
You will manage the end‐to‐end processing of payroll across a multi‐site organisation, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with all relevant awards and legislation. Working closely with Centre Directors and the finance team, you will help maintain high standards of compliance, data integrity, and employee support. The position is structured as a 4‐day working week, with some flexibility around which days are worked.
Key Responsibilities
* Process weekly/fortnightly payroll using Employment Hero, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Maintain employee records, contracts, onboarding details, and award classifications.
* Interpret and apply relevant awards, including the Children's Services Award and Clerks Award.
* Reconcile timesheets, leave balances, allowances, and variations across multiple centres.
* Respond to payroll queries with clarity, professionalism, and a service‐focused approach.
* Prepare payroll reports for finance, compliance, and management.
* Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and workforce systems.
Skills And Experience
* Experience in a payroll role (1-3+ years preferred).
* Strong working knowledge of Employment Hero is required.
* Understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and NES requirements.
* Experience in the childcare or education sector is an advantage.
* High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, and excellent time management.
* Ability to work collaboratively with centre teams and maintain confidentiality at all times.
