Community Mental Health Counsellor
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Mental Health Counsellor to join our team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide access and coordination to comprehensive support services to clients and their families, aiming to achieve personal wellbeing as part of a holistic model of care. Staff will actively participate in team activities and contribute to a flourishing workplace culture that promotes our values and ethos as a long-standing Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
Duties
* Provide interventions using techniques and methodologies of proven effectiveness from a sound evidence base.
* Respond to critical incidents, providing wellbeing first aid to patients.
* Conduct wellbeing assessments for evaluating risks, identifying client needs and guiding treatment delivery plans.
* Provide group interventions meeting mental health consumers' needs.
* Maintain standards according to case management and record keeping processes.
* Refer and coordinate between different sites or programs, facilitating mental health and social needs service delivery to patients.
* Liaise with other community organisations and government agencies for information gathering, referral, networking, and promoting our services.
* Cultivate productive working relationships at all levels, facilitating cooperation, trust, and respect, valuing differences and diversity, guiding, mentoring, and focusing on staff development.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Bachelor qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, or Counselling.
* Demonstrated ability to apply high-level clinical judgement and prepare accurate reports relating to client outcomes and mental health wellbeing interventions.
* Able to work with culturally and socially diverse groups of clients, applying a culturally responsive framework to guide interventions with staff and management support.
* Knowledge and demonstrated ability in applying various scientifically-based mental health wellbeing treatment approaches for clients with presenting problems including identity and stolen generational issues, suicidal ideation/behaviour, self-harm, drug and/or alcohol abuse, long-term responses to trauma, and behavioural problems.
* Ability to administer mental health wellbeing assessments and work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to creative and innovative programmes of mental health wellbeing.
* Demonstrated experience in overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures.
* National Police Clearance and Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
Desired Skills
We would love to see candidates with experience in:
* Development and delivery of educational and/or wellbeing group programs.
Work Environment
This is a permanent part-time position offering a competitive salary package including annual salary $84,080 per annum pro rata, 11.5% Super, and Not for Profit Salary Packaging increasing your take-home pay. You will also have access to salary packaging and contribute to bettering indigenous health. Immunisation history showing two doses of Covid-19 vaccine is encouraged.
