The Role
As a result of our ongoing business growth and team expansion, we are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Systems Engineer (Level 3) to take on a senior technical role within External IT.
You will be a technical escalation point and subject matter expert, actively performing high-level diagnostics, troubleshooting, and remediation for our clients, while also providing technical leadership and guidance to the wider team.
You will work across infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cyber security, networking, and cloud solutions, playing a key role in complex issue resolution, project delivery, and continuous improvement of client environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the senior technical escalation point, providing hands-on diagnosis and resolution of complex infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking, and security issues.
* Provide technical leadership across infrastructure, Microsoft 365, and cyber security platforms.
* Design, implement, and support end-to-end IT solutions for managed service clients.
* Lead and deliver IT projects, ensuring quality outcomes and on-time delivery.
* Perform high-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across servers, networks, cloud, and endpoints.
* Assist with task allocation and provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
* Maintain accurate and detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, standards, and procedures.
* Stay current with Microsoft 365, Azure, security frameworks, and industry best practices.
* Produce clear, accurate, and timely technical reports and client documentation.
* Support and maintain networking environments, including switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and Wi-Fi.
* Provide support and maintenance for cloud-based and VoIP phone systems.
* Participate in a rotating on-call roster for after-hours support as required.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a hands-on Level 3 Systems Engineer within an MSP or complex IT environment.
* Strong Microsoft platform expertise, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, hybrid and on-prem environments.
* Solid understanding of cyber security principles, controls, and best practices based around SMB1001 and Essential 8.
* Experience with Microsoft Intune, device management, and identity management technologies.
* Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
* Extensive networking experience, including switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and Wi-Fi.
* Experience supporting cloud-based phone systems.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience working in an ICT Professional Services or MSP environment.
* Experience with firewall security solutions (Meraki preferred).
* Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft, networking, or security certifications highly regarded).
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT or equivalent industry experience.
