Job Title: Policy Officer
As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advising on animal health, biosecurity and food safety matters.
* Provide technical advice on animal health, biosecurity and food safety issues.
* Address topical issues critical to the future export of Australian meat and meat products.
* Liaise with government agencies, industry bodies and stakeholders to support market access.
* Conduct research and prepare submissions for market access negotiations.
* Represent the department in international engagements and negotiations.
* Contribute high-level advice for senior executives and the Minister on animal health-related matters.
* Investigate and respond to trade disruptions through targeted research.
Qualifications
* A strong understanding of Australia's food safety and animal health systems.
* Experience in agricultural trade or trade management.
* Knowledge of export legislation and its application to agricultural industries.
* Familiarity with legislative frameworks and government decision-making processes.
* The ability to present complex information clearly and strategically.
* Effective time and team management skills.
* A proven ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
* Skills in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
* A results-driven mindset and proactive problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
