About The Role
The Senior Research Fellow, Statistician (Level C) is expected to provide leadership of the statistical analysis work for a project on neuroendocrine risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The role forms part of the project Reducing Women’s Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease, contributing to the CARE Program goals.
- Salary: $155k - $178k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term – 3 years
- Full time (35 hours)
The role reports to Professor Kaarin Anstey and has no direct reports.
Specific Responsibilities For This Role Include
- Make independent contributions to research according to the project work plan, with significant impact in the field and a nationally recognised research track record.
- Undertake independent research in dementia epidemiology contributing to project milestones.
- Develop research groups in areas of specialist expertise and methods to deliver outcomes.
- Attract peer recognition and establish national research networks.
- Obtain research income from nationally competitive grants and end-users, as a member or leader, at or above the discipline level.
- Mentor and guide students and colleagues; supervise HDRs to timely completion as primary supervisor; contribute to HDR review panels.
- Provide statistical advice to international collaborators and lead data harmonization and collaborative analyses across teams.
- Assist with preparing integrative annual reporting for the CARE program.
- Align with the Code of Conduct and Values; identify and control health and safety risks in tasks and projects.
About The Successful Applicant (Selection Criteria)
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
- A PhD in Statistics and relevant work experience in developing risk prediction models for Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia via secondary analysis of biobanks and cohort studies.
- Interest in sex and gender aspects of dementia epidemiology evidenced by relevant publications.
- Advanced statistical skills and ability to provide high level advice and facilitate international collaboration on dementia epidemiology methods.
- Commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver milestones on project timelines.
- Track record in high-quality, high-impact research with leadership potential.
- Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to related training.
