**Role & Responsibilities**:
The primary objective of the Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of multiple warehouse sites, including third-party logistics (3PL) providers, international locations such as China, and local sites. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating shipments, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across all sites.
**1. Lead the logistics team to achieve exceptional delivery performance within budgets.**
- Lead and manage the operations function of the distribution centres and transport to achieve business performance targets around cost, safety, quality, production, inventory accuracy, service level & capability.
- Working with S&OP team, manage monthly inventory management and SLOB processes.
- Lead projects which have logistics relevance or impacts.
- Working with Head of S&OP, develop the logistics business strategy ensuring integration with rest of business to reduce cost and increase efficiency and customer service.
- Performance and development management of people in the logistics team.
2. **Inbound / Outbound Logistics**:
- Coordinate the receipt of goods, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately documented and inspected for quality and quantity.
- Oversee the unloading, unpacking, and storage of incoming inventory.
- Ensure adherence to process to verify and process goods receipts, ensuring that all received items match purchase orders and are correctly recorded.
- Address any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
- Oversee the picking, packing, and dispatching of orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery to customers.
- Manage the processes for shipping notices and documentation.
- Across all warehouses, manage inbound and outbound DIFOT metrics, and put in place improvement plans when KPI's are not achieved.
- Oversee a complex export function, including the management of freight forwarding partners.
3. **Inventory Management and Stock Status**:
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder points to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
- Maintain inventory integrity on site through cycle count or stock take -ensuring results remaining above 99%.
- Generate and analyse reports on stock status, including inventory levels, turnover rates, and stock discrepancies.
- Provide regular updates to management on inventory performance and issues.
4. **Investigations and Continuous Improvement**:
- Investigate and document any instances of damaged goods, determining the cause and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve damage claims.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the warehouse operations.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Periodically review the cost to serve model and propose changes which improve customer service and optimise efficiency and cost.
- Periodically review Logistics processes and SOP's.
- Negotiate with suppliers and logistics to optimize costs and service levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve overall warehouse performance.
5. **Local Operations Management**:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the local warehouse site, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Implement local strategies to improve warehouse operations and meet business objectives.
- Engage with local warehouse stakeholders to build positive relationships and support local initiatives.
- Address any local issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
2. **3PL Coordination**:
- Oversee the performance of third-party logistics providers, ensuring they meet service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
- Manage contracts and relationships with 3PL providers, ensuring cost-effective and efficient logistics solutions1.
- Build strong operational relationships with 3PL to ensure ongoing performance and that contractual obligations relating to service and costs are monitored and managed effectively.
3. **3PL Integration**:
- Ensure seamless integration of 3PL operations with internal processes.
- Monitor and evaluate 3PL performance, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
- Working with 3PL, identify opportunities for continuous improvement by seeking to improve systems, practices, and resources to ensure optimal logistics operations.
- Daily inventory reconciliation with 3PLs to ensure all interfaces flow correctly to remain 99% synced between 3PL system and Homart Systems.
**Managing China Warehouse**:
