About the role

As a Horticulturist at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG), you will:

- Develop and implement horticultural work programs.
- Maintain and improve plant collections, displays and estate grounds.
- Monitor and manage plant health.
- Operate and maintain automatic irrigation systems, horticultural equipment and machinery.
- Provide advice and liaise with staff, stakeholders and the public.

Hours per fortnight

76.0 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.8 hours, by negotiation).

Period of appointment

24 months.

Essential requirements

- A Certificate III (Horticulture Cert 3 (AHC30716) in Horticulture or an equivalent level, relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.

Desirable requirements

- Current drivers licence.
- Workplace Level 2 First Aid certificate.
- Accredited competency in the use of chainsaws.
- Experience in a similar role in a botanical garden, or large public garden.
