Finance Business Partner Blacktown, 5 days a week We're working on a newly created Finance Business Partner role with a high-growth, engineering-led business supporting some of the largest infrastructure and project programmes in Australia. This is a business in a genuine scale phase. With a strong pipeline already secured across transport, defence, and major capital projects, the next 2-3 years will see a step change in activity, complexity, and commercial opportunity. They've invested heavily in systems, data, and reporting capability and are now looking for someone to step in and turn that into real commercial impact. The role This is not a traditional FP&A position. You'll sit at the centre of the business, partnering across sales, commercial, and operations to shape decisions, challenge thinking, and drive performance. The foundations are there, dashboards, data, and initial analysis. To date, much of this has been run through the commercial team. The brief now is to bring in a dedicated finance partner to take ownership, elevate the insight, and free the business up to focus on delivery. You'll lead the planning cycle end to end, from budgeting and forecasting through to business cases and post-investment reviews, while also playing a key role in longer-term strategic planning. What you'll be doing Own budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing performance analysis across projects and asset utilisation Partner with operational and commercial leaders to translate activity into clear financial outcomes Build and challenge business cases, investment decisions, and capital allocation Lead post-investment reviews to drive accountability and continuous improvement Analyse pricing, margins, and utilisation to identify risks and opportunities Support integrated business planning across demand, fleet strategy, and operational delivery Use data and dashboards to influence decisions, not just report on them What we're looking for Finance degree and/or CPA/CA qualified Proven experience in a business partnering, FP&A, or commercial finance role Exposure to project-based, asset-heavy, or operational environments Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders Someone who is naturally curious, asks questions, and gets into the detail A strong communicator with presence, able to engage across all levels of the business This is as much about personality as it is technical capability. Our client wants someone who will lean in, build relationships, and become a trusted voice across the organisation. Why this role High-impact, newly created position with real ownership Direct exposure to large-scale, complex projects and senior decision makers Strong, visible growth pipeline underpinning the business Opportunity to shape how finance partners the business, not just support it A role that blends commercial, operational, and strategic finance If you're looking for something broader than a standard finance role, where you can genuinely influence outcomes and be part of a business scaling in a meaningful way, this is worth a conversation.
