The Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) is Australia’s leading peak industry body for the mortgage and finance broking profession, representing over 16,000 members across brokers, lenders, aggregators and industry participants.

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Manager, Communications & Public Relations to play a pivotal role in shaping how our industry is understood, represented and valued across Australia.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of industry advocacy, policy, media and thought leadership partnering closely with the CEO and Executive, Policy & Legal to elevate the voice of the broking profession in a complex and evolving regulatory landscape.


The Opportunity

This role sits at the centre of the MFAA’s strategic narrative.

You will lead the development and delivery of our communications and public relations strategy ensuring our policy positions, research insights and industry advocacy are translated into clear, compelling and influential messaging.

You will move seamlessly between:

* Strategic thinking and narrative development
* Hands-on drafting, editing and content creation
* Media engagement and reputation management


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and execute MFAA’s communications and media strategy
* Shape public positioning of policy and advocacy priorities
* Develop high-impact messaging, media releases and commentary
* Build and manage relationships with mainstream, business and trade media
* Partner with the CEO on speeches, opinion pieces and public positioning
* Translate complex policy, regulatory and data insights into compelling narratives
* Support communications for major industry reports, research and thought leadership initiatives


About You

You are a highly capable communications professional with strong judgement, media instincts and the ability to influence at a senior level.

You will bring:

* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Strong experience in communications, public relations or media (5+ years)
* The ability to simplify complex issues into clear, impactful messaging
* Experience working with senior executives and stakeholders
* A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to execute at pace


Highly regarded

* Experience in advocacy, policy or government relations
* Exposure to financial services, professional services or regulated environments
