Chemonics International seeks an experienced Sr. Technical Writer to lead the development of high-quality proposal content for DFAT and other donor-funded opportunities across the Asia Pacific. This role plays a key part in advancing Chemonics’ strategic growth in the DFAT market by producing clear, compelling, and compliant technical documentation. The Technical Writer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to draft, review, and refine proposal narratives that align with donor requirements and position our submissions for success.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and edit technical documents, proposals, and communications materials in alignment with DFAT guidelines and donor expectations.
- Interpret DFAT Requests for Tender (RFTs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and Calls for Proposals documentation to ensure compliance and responsiveness.
- Develop content and questions for strategy sessions and investigative research trips with counterparts, partners, and individuals.
- Collaborate with proposal teams to develop project descriptions, implementation plans, risk mitigation strategies, budgets, and personnel sections.
- Develop comprehensive technical approaches with clear risk mitigation management plans and direct links to outputs, outcomes, and impact.
- Conduct win and loss debrief analysis and share out learnings across teams.
- Draft MEL plans and work plans activities consistent with technical approach, budget, and RFT requirements.
- Support the development of internal and external communications materials including reports, briefing documents, and social media content.
- Participate in proposal strategy sessions and mentor team members on DFAT writing standards and best practices.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, business administration, international development, or a related field is required.
- Minimum 12 years recent experience responding to donor tenders, writing grant proposals etc. Experience responding to DFAT tender highly preferred.
- Proven knowledge of how to write, review and edit various English language documents as well as how to develop communications materials targeting a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Working knowledge of Asia Pacific country contexts is important for exercising sound judgment on communications materials.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English at the 4/4 level (speaking/writing) is required.
- Solid interpersonal skills, proven ability to multitask and work on diverse teams are required.
- Must have excellent writing/editing skills in English and knowledge of data management, editing, and publishing software (e.g., Microsoft Suite and ability to leverage AI for research and scanning internal documentation).
