**The Opportunity**
An exciting opportunity has opened up for a permanent payroll officer to join a leading food manufacturing business on a rapid domestic and global growth trajectory based in the south eastern suburbs.
In this role you will be expected to accurately and promptly process payroll on a weekly frequency, to over 700 employees and provide additional support the finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager.

**Responsibilities**
You will be responsible for the end to end payroll as well as tasks including, but not limited to:
- Collecting, calculating, and entering data in order to maintain and update payroll information
- Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently
- Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and reporting on this
- Determining payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income, social security taxes, employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments
- Resolving payroll discrepancies
- Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures
- Developing ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
- Verify timekeeping records and consult employees about any discrepancies
- Record payroll data in our software system and verify all amounts prior to cutting checks
- Alter employee tax status as needed as well as any information about withholding
- Prepare manual checks for distribution to employees
- Ad hoc duties and tasks
**To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills & attributes**:
- Proven work experience in payroll position
- Highly developed communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Fully conversant with MS Office - especially Excel
- School leaver's certificate required (Accounting or similar qualification preferred)
- Minimum three years payroll department experience
- Dealt with EBAs and/or Awards
- Familiarity with payroll software Chris 21
