We are looking for an entry‐level administrative support professional to assist the Travel Information Division. This role provides hands‐on experience with day‐to‐day office functions while gaining exposure to TxDOT operations.
Essential Duties
* Answer telephone calls, evaluate requests, route messages, and serve as a receptionist or front desk assistant.
* Maintain confidential records and assist with processing routine documents such as vouchers, personnel records, titles, and registrations.
* Assist in inventorying materials, supplies, and equipment, and with general warehousing duties such as stocking, issuing, and maintaining records.
* Disseminate information to the public and maintain radio contact with field units.
* Maintain files, records, and logs; make copies, sort and distribute mail, and open, sort, and distribute mail.
* Perform preliminary research and gather pertinent data for assignments.
* Execute routine word‐processing duties and conduct quality checks on documents created.
* Run errands as required and perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
* Close visual acuity required – work includes data/figures, viewing a computer screen, and extensive reading.
Minimum Qualifications
* Must be a student in high school or enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school.
Other Conditions
* Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in an educational institution.
* Employees aged 18 or older with a valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
Preferred Qualifications & Physical Requirements
* Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes.
* Light work: lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
* Work involves prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
* Repetitive motion involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
* Close visual acuity – long periods of computer use and extensive reading.

This paid summer internship may be extended into the fall on a full/part‐time basis.
