TasNetworks has an exciting opportunity for an experienced
Senior Protection & Control Technical Officer
to join our Protection & Control team.
This is a highly technical, field-focused role for a seasoned Protection & Control professional who brings deep expertise across transmission and distribution networks and is passionate about safety, asset reliability and technical excellence.
In this senior technical role, you'll maintain and support TasNetworks' Protection, Control and SCADA systems, ensuring assets are reliable, compliant and fit for purpose. You'll play a key role in minimising business risk, commissioning capital upgrades, supporting network operations and leading safe work practices.
You'll provide high-level technical support, analyse network faults, coordinate outages and emergency response, and contribute to asset strategies and continuous improvement. Mentoring team members and championing a strong safety culture will be central to your impact.
About You
You're an experienced Protection & Control professional with strong technical judgement and extensive field experience in maintenance and commissioning environments.
You'll Bring
* A degree or diploma in Engineering, or equivalent extensive Protection & Control experience
* Strong knowledge of EHV transmission and distribution protection, control and SCADA systems
* Proficiency with numerical relays and associated communication protocols
* Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
* Strong problem-solving skills and confidence working under pressure
* A demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and risk management
* Excellent communication, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills
* Knowledge of PSSR and relevant legislation and standards
* A current Driver's Licence, Workplace First Aid, and the ability to achieve Person in Charge status. Added bonus of a current Electrical Practitioner's Licence is desirable.
