Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead–silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away.
With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for fast-track production.
Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.
The Position - Environmental & Approvals Advisor: Sorby Hills Project
Sorby Hills is seeking an experienced Environmental and Approvals Advisor to lead environmental approvals and support regulatory compliance for our developing project.
Based in Perth with periodic site travel, this role is responsible for ensuring all environmental and heritage obligations are met to the highest standard.
Key responsibilities
* Provide expert advice and ensure continued compliance with environmental and heritage approval requirements under WA and Commonwealth Legislation.
* Obtain future exploration approvals in WA and NT.
* Plan and coordinate baseline environmental studies and cultural heritage surveys to support operations and future developments.
* Oversee the site based environmental department.
* Maintain Environmental Legal Compliance and Stakeholder Consultation Registers.
* Maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS).
* Build and maintain productive relationships with regulators, including DMIRS, DWER, DBCA, Local, State and Federal government authorities.
Skills and Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
* A minimum of 5 years' environmental approvals experience within the WA mining or resources sector.
* In-depth knowledge of WA environmental, mining and heritage legislation.
* Strong digital capability, including proficiency with GIS tools.
* The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a dynamic project environment.
* A proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
* A current WA driver's license.
